Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay is an open, artist-driven show of site-specific sculpture that takes place each year at Maudslay State Park.
This unique exhibition brings together artists from many walks of life to create site-specific sculptures in the Park. Artists should have a connection to the North Shore or Merrimack Valley area, and both experienced and new artists may submit proposals. Artists are encouraged to pitch in and help with the organization of the show.
And the theme for Sculpture at Maudslay 2026 is….
“EDGE”
Thanks to all who joined us on Friday, February 27th at the NAA. It was great to see everyone, talk about the show, and choose the theme using our “patented process”!
After 5 rounds of voting and some good debate, the winner is “EDGE”. In the debate, we talked about how “Edge” has many avenues of meaning: it’s a physical property, a place in space, a personal, creative, or emotional state, a line in a drawing, for a start. It will be interesting to see what work it inspires. The runner-up was “Roots”, and the top five included “Flow”, “Reflection” and “Whimsy”.
We’ll have applications for the show ready at the end of March.
(We have to work out with the park exactly where our site-area will be. In the meantime, start thinking!
Also, we put on the show as a community endeavor, and we can use help. And we have fun. Want to get involved? Sign up below and let us know!
